Fools Premiering on April Fools

Tonight Fox News is premiering a new show, Real American Stories, hosted by everyone's favorite idiotic politician Sarah Palin. I guess it's fitting that this is premiering on April Fools because everything involving Sarah Palin and Fox News is a joke. Parts of twitter have been a buzz of this story for a couple of days now so I decided to explain it.

The show is being promoted as stories about "inspirational" Americans. The controversy in all this is that the promotional commercials have footage of Mr. mmm mmm Luscious Lips, LLCool J, doing an interview about his life and how hes has overcome adversity. BUTTTT... the drama is that apparently Fox News never discussed running this interview (which was filmed in 2008) with the people in LL's camp and LL Cool J himself tweeted about it on Tuesday saying: "Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW." Since the start of the drama the network has removed LL Cool J's interview from the show.

A Fox News representative has said in response to the LL Cool J statements:
"Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith's interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career."
Now for those of you that don't know LL Cool J is staring in the CBS drama NCIS: Los Angeles, along side Chris O'Donnell, which is finishing up its first season (btw I am so hooked on this show.. it's one of the best crime dramas on tv; I definitely recommend this show). With that being said I think that there is a better adjective to describe LL's acting career than "fledgling". Contrary to popular belief LL Cool J has been in the acting game since the early 90's so I don't think fledgling or inexperienced/novice is an accurate description of his acting capabilities. This is just another example of the bigotry that is Fox News.

On another note, Fox News also failed to inform Toby Keith's management that they were also using an old interview from him in the show as well. Unlike the LL Cool J interview Toby Keith's is expected to remain in the show for tonight. So for those of you interested in seeing this ignorant train wreck of a combination that is Fox News and Sarah Palin the show airs tonight Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10 pm.

Also new episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles return to CBS next Tuesday at 9 pm.

  1. lol a the blog post title!!!...so true. I didn't get to watch...wouldn't want to anyway. I bet she only features "Real Americans." And it's funny because I saw a tweet that said she should reference the story of a young black man who grew up facing adversity but managed to become the President of the United States. True Story. lol
